Financial Loan Officer - Commercial Real Estate

Salary: $86,000 annually
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

The Financial Loan Officer plays a critical role in structuring, analyzing, and managing commercial real estate loans. This position is ideal for professionals with experience in banking, commercial lending, or credit analysis who want to apply their financial expertise in a dynamic real estate environment.

The successful candidate will bring strong underwriting and credit skills, advanced financial analysis capabilities, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with institutional lenders.


Key Responsibilities

Loan Origination & Structuring

  • Source, structure, and process commercial real estate loans, including acquisitions, refinances, and recapitalizations
  • Collaborate with banks and institutional lenders to negotiate favorable loan terms
  • Prepare loan packages and supporting documentation for lender review
  • Ensure compliance with lender requirements and internal policies

Credit & Risk Analysis

  • Analyze borrower creditworthiness, including financial statements, rent rolls, DSCR, LTV, and other key metrics
  • Perform underwriting, due diligence, and risk assessments to support loan approvals
  • Monitor loan performance and identify potential risks or covenant issues
  • Ensure all loans meet regulatory and institutional compliance standards

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Build and maintain detailed financial models to support underwriting and financing decisions
  • Prepare credit memos, loan summaries, and performance reports
  • Track and analyze portfolio metrics such as NOI, DSCR, LTV, IRR, and cash flow
  • Partner with property management and accounting teams to confirm financial accuracy

Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with banks, insurance companies, and other lending institutions
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for lenders throughout underwriting, closing, and ongoing reporting
  • Represent the company in lender meetings, investor presentations, and industry events

Process & Compliance Oversight

  • Manage loan data, compliance tracking, and reporting using Yardi and other financial systems
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of all loan and financial documentation
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency in loan administration

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field (MBA or certifications preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial lending, loan origination, or real estate credit analysis
  • Strong understanding of commercial real estate lending, underwriting standards, and credit policy
  • Advanced Excel skills required; Yardi and/or Argus experience strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to structure and close commercial financing transactions
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple transactions simultaneously
